The Vibes
The Vibes have been support act for the legend Lee “Scratch” Perry at the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, 2016. They have also been support for ska/punk innovators The Toasters. With a debut album recorded, hoping for release Autumn 2016, and writing for a second already well underway.
The band were formed after a chance, drunken conversation in the early hours of the morning at a festival between Donal and Stephen Faherty from popular Belfast ska/punk band Pocket Billiards. With a mutual love of reggae and soul music, they decided to join forces to collaborate.
Members of other prevalent local bands were enlisted (including Boss Sound Manifesto, Doghouse and some of NI Soul Troop). Quickly a set of original music was put together, as well as a few covers, often taking soul and even folk songs and giving them a reggae twist.
The Vibes currently share a residency in The Belfast Empire with NI Soul Troop, playing the first Friday of the month alternately.
