Musical Directing & Collaborations
Ponies Don’t Play Football
After teaming up with ponydance for a music video, it was decided to try and create a live show with musicians and contemporary dancers. The show also contained elements of theatre and comedy with an extremely high tempo show, leaving audiences often in hysterics, occasionally baffled, intermittently aroused and sporadically moved.
Donal acted as Musical Director for this project which to date has carried had a number of theatre runs of the show throughout the UK and Ireland including British Dance Edition, Cardiff 2016, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015, two runs in the MAC Theatre, Belfast 2014/15, and one in the Project Arts Centre at the Dublin Contemporary Dance Festival, 2014.
The show was well received by both audience and critics and there may be future performances.
Pony Panto 2014
Another collaboration with ponydance, this time for their annual Christmas extravaganza. This variety style show was a mixture of dance, music, comedy, circus, cabaret and theatre, with the six Belfast shows completely selling out, with the Dublin run not far behind.
Life is a Carnival
Life is a Carnival was a one-off show which took place in July 2011, a collaboration between The Beat Initiative, The Open Arts Community Choir, Circus Bone Idle, Rathgael Gymnastics, Bruiser Theatre Company and Streetwise Community Circus.
